What Makes ARMS Unique?
ARMS'S APPROACH IS BOTTOM-UP
We believe people with MS (pwMS) will support research that could have practical application to our lives. Our members tell us what aspects of MS they would like studied and we collaborate with researchers to shape studies to address what pwMS care about most. For instance, the research for which we are currently seeking funds stemmed from ARMS members' frustration that there is practically no existing research on people 60 years or older despite the fact that 25% of those with MS fall in this age group.
ARMS COLLABORATES WITH RESEARCH TEAMS TO SHAPE NEW STUDIES
ARMS leadership works closely with the researchers to create studies to advance the understanding of MS and that will resonate with patients and their friends and families. ARMS endorses research and seeks funding for the researcher's institution. ARMS does not receive any donations for research.
MEMBERS DO WHAT THEY CAN TO SUPPORT ARMS-ENDORSED RESEARCH
Not everyone with MS can contribute financially to research but everyone who cares about the direction of MS research can become an ARMS member and in so doing, advocate for support. ARMS membership is free.
Those who can, give to support ARMS-endorsed MS research by contributing directly to the researcher's institution, which is a nonprofit organization.
